Be part of the Tour de Yorkshire 2016 – Ride the Route!

 

To celebrate the two Tour de Yorkshire races coming through Monk Fryston and Hillam on Saturday 30 April 2016, three FREE family-friendly cycle rides have been organised. Monk Fryston Cycle Club has worked with SkyRide organisers to plan the rides to suit a range of ages and abilities.

 

Ride 1: 10 miles

School field – Hillam – Birkin – West Haddlesey – Gateforth – Hillam – school field

Rider age: 12 years old and over

Riders aged 12–15 years old must be accompanied by an adult (no more than two children to one responsible adult)

Pre-event registration essential (use form ‘Ride 1’ attached by Tuesday 26 April)

Departs 10.15am: about one hour

In the event of over-subscription, riders will be selected by ballot: all applicants will be contacted on Thursday 28 April.

 

Ride 2: 5 miles

School field – Hillam – Bluebell Woods – Burton Salmon – Poole – returning to the school field by the same route (a small section of this ride is not on tarmac and may be muddy)

Rider age: 5–11 years old + parents

Adults must be accompanied by a child (no more than two children to one responsible adult)

Pre-event registration essential (use form ‘Ride 2’ attached by Tuesday 26 April)

Departs 10.30am: about 30 minutes

Ride 3: Traffic-free ride (all closed roads)

School field – Hillam Ring Tree – school field

Rider age: 11 years old and under (all riders must have a parent supervising)

No pre-event registration needed

Departs 10.45am: about 30 minutes

 

Cycle activities

In addition to these cycle rides, there will also be:

•    ‘See and be seen’ safe cycling activity (from 10.15am at the Community Centre)

•    a special ‘TdY’ cycling skills course (from noon until 2.30pm in the school field)

•    ‘How far?’ cycle competition (from noon until 2.30pm in the school field)

These are open to all ages and no registration is required.

 

For the more adventurous, Le Tour organisers are offering the chance to ride the Stage 3 route on Sunday 1 May. There are three distances available (40 km, 85 km and 119 km). To find out more, visit letour.yorkshire.com/maserati-tour-de-yorkshire-ride.
