The CA have just (15th August) received the notification below from NYC.
It seems the CA were one of only 7 sites throughout North Yorkshire providing space for this type of recycling facility. The note recognises the great forward strides made by the local authorities in providing home waste recycling facilities. By coincidence, the CA Trustees also took these provisions into account when they recently decided to withdraw the cardboard and paper recycling bins. (See elsewhere in the News).
From NYC:
Removal of carton recycling banks
I am writing to inform you that the carton recycling banks currently at the MF&H Community Centre (and others) is scheduled to be removed in September (date TBC).
While we recognise that recycling cartons at these locations have been valued by residents, the majority of households now have access to comprehensive kerbside recycling, reducing the need for separate cartons.
This change also follows the decision made by ACE UK (The Alliance for Beverage Cartons and the Environment (ACE) UK representing Tetra Pak, Elopak and SIG Group, the leading manufacturers of liquid cartons for the UK and European markets) to withdraw their fully funded service, as the cartons previously collected at these sites are now accepted through kerbside recycling collections.
We appreciate your continued support with the recycling service and welcome any feedback or concerns you may have. If you would like to discuss this further or need assistance please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
