Friday night was fabulous - with a full house enjoying the tempting food and a wonderful range of Drinks from our 3 bars. These were accompanied by the brilliant entertainment served up by Chris and Seph throughout their three hours ‘80’s at 8’ slot which had the dance floor full by just after 9 o’clock.
There was no hanging back by anyone for this event to get going!
Saturday was amazing - We were blessed by good weather but in any case, we had plenty of shelter provided by the 14 marquees in the Community Centre grounds which were transformed by an army of volunteers throughout Thursday and Friday. More entertainment, seating, food and drink were provided than ever before …. the smiles on everyone’s faces had to be seen to be believed … it was just what the Beer Fest team hoped for when they set out to start again where we left off in 2019!
By the end of the event another objective had been achieved - we had sold out of just about everything… so very little wastage which means we maximise everyone’s fund raising efforts.
Despite all the excitement, drink and noise, it was wonderful to note that both one-minute silences held on Friday and Saturday to honour the death of our Queen, were impeccably observed. Thank you to all who were present at that time - who said children couldn’t be quiet - they were!
We would thank everyone who supported the event, those who attended, the sponsors and donors and particularly those who volunteered to make it happen.
Finally, the Beer Fest is a joint fund-raising event organised for the benefit of the school and the Community Centre. We are delighted to report that we raised around £18,000 - a record and this truly reflects the CA philosophy of ‘Fund Raising through Fun’. The school will put their 50% towards providing a new class set of chrome books and generally upgrading their IT. The CA is working towards enhancing the playground for everyone and funding day to day maintenance and improvements.
Once again thank you for supporting the event. We hope to see you next year - Sept 15th and 16th 2023.
Cheers
The Beer Fest Team
PS We welcome new team members every year – and are grateful for their help. This year Stephen Fleming and Neil Fowkes joined the team and made big contributions – but both admitted – they just didn’t realise how much is required to be done – particularly as every year – when everyone has gone home, we sit down and assess what could be or needs to be done better before we forget. We have a list – so we need some more help. It’s not all work, we do have some social time together and have some fun as well. ‘Fund Raising through Fun’
